Pregnant Mothers – How to Stop Smoking (and Stop Harming Your Baby)!

Monday, September 14th, 2009

So you?re pregnant ? and over the moon – as you contemplate a new life with a bouncing baby daughter or son!
But there?s just one thing that?s been troubling you, nagging you, playing on your mind? You?re a smoker! And you?re worried about the effect that might have on your beloved and much anticipated offspring.
So what do you do?
Ignore the threat and hope for the best? Try to cut down until the baby is born? Or come to terms with how to stop smoking altogether?
?Either way,? you?re likely to be reasoning ? ?I?m in for a tough time!?
Let?s face it, as a mother to be, you?re desperate to do everything in your power to protect and care for the beautiful little person that?s growing inside you. At the same time, whether you care to acknowledge it openly or not, you?re in the vice-like grip of that damned smoking habit!
It?s a case of ?irresistible motivation? meets ?immovable addiction?.
So, like any good Mom or Mom-to-be, you do the right thing and research the true dangers of continuing to smoke.
You find out to your horror that smoking during pregnancy increases the risk of pregnancy complications, premature delivery, low-birth-weight infants, stillbirth, and sudden infant death syndrome.
Some more delving and you come up against the worrying fact that babies of mothers who smoked during pregnancy have lower birth weights and that low birth weight is a leading cause of infant deaths, resulting in more than 300,000 deaths annually among newborns in the United States alone.
The bad news keeps coming. Babies unprotected from secondhand smoke after birth are at twice the risk for sudden infant death syndrome, and infants whose mothers smoked before and after birth are at three to four times greater risk.
?Enough? you reason. ?There?s no way I can expose my baby to this kind of threat! I simply must work out how to stop smoking before the damage is done.?
But hold on. This is supposed to be a special time for you. You?ve got to keep your wits about you as you focus all your efforts on growing that wonderful little baby. The last thing you want is the distraction and stress of having to cope with quitting smoking.
What about the mood swings, sleeplessness, cramping of the muscles, cravings and coughing that you know will accompany the fight to dump the habit? What detrimental effect will you subject your unborn child to if you start on some regimen of pills, patches, or nicotine replacement drugs?
Like so many pregnant mothers who face the same predicament, this dilemma appears to have you headed firmly down a no-win ?cul de sac?.
Yet, mercifully, that no longer has to be your fate, thanks to some wonderful new approaches and methods that are available to deal effectively with the question of how to stop smoking.
It?s true. Nowadays you can stop smoking easily, quickly and permanently and still manage to circumvent all the nasty side effects and withdrawal symptoms that are associated with giving up.
The secret to success is within your reach, far closer than you could imagine. Your very own personal belief system and frame of reference for what you think is possible and not possible holds the key to making the change that you know ? deep down ? you need to make.
That?s right. ?Magic? pills, patches or drugs are not the answer. You and your amazing mind are ? admittedly, perhaps, with a little help from those who have been there, done it and designed the program!

One of the programs on the market that takes this new approach, effectively solving the riddle of <a href="http://www.stopsmokingeasily.biz” rel=”nofollow”>how to stop smoking easily, quickly, safely and without stress, and one that has been proven to be both highly effective and reliable, can be found at: http://www.stopsmokingeasily.biz

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Tomorrow is the day I’ve circle on my calendar to quit smoking cigarretes and stop drinking. I’ve smoked a pack of cigs a day since I was 18 (now 35) and have been drinking a half of bottle a wine a night for about 2 years. I want to quit both. Do you think I should try it one at a time, or cold turkey both of them? I seriously think I’m going to go insane. Any advise?

Thrush Treatment

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Thrush is a common yeast infection that causes white lesions to occur in the mouth – in the tongue, the throat and the inner chicks. The lesions are extremely awful when they make contact with sour food products in the mouth, and the pain even gets worse while swallowing. If thrush is left untreated for a small time, the disorder is known to extend to the esophagus. This consequently causes or else preventable serious health problems.

Typically, the natural occurring Candida fungus is accountable for thrush existence. Candida fungus is known to grow and survive very well in wet, wet body areas such as the oral cavity and the mouth. Thrush medicine in its early stages is consequently recommended, to stop the developement and multiplication of the fungus, which will only make worse the matter.

fornunately, there are a lot of antifungal thrush medications available over the counter and also as prescriptions from the doctor. The drugs are given either by injections, taking by mouth or application in the case of creams. similarly, there are natural home therapy proving to be very effective in thrush medical care. to a great extent, the home remedies are economizing, very safe with no secondary effects and the impact is known to be very long lasting, unlike the synthesized remedy that may initiate a thrush recurrence.

perhaps the first class thrush cure way is upholding the highest level of oral hygiene. cleaning the teeth after every meal, and flossing once a day will obstruct all efforts of Candida fungus to increase. variation of daily life and diet will also buttress thrush treatments. Avoid excessively sugared and sugary foods, and foods rich in yeast, stopping consumption of alcohol and habit of smoking.

As in any other case of yeast infection, it is always desirable to go for complete medical checkup, so that the severity of the state can be identified, hence theexact cure for thrush be administered.

Give Your Old Bones An Overhaul

Monday, September 14th, 2009

A normal side effect of aging is the general weakening of muscle tissue and bones throughout the body. A sure way to reduce the stress on our weakening bones is to increase our muscle mass through strength training. EVERYONE can get a benefit from strength training no matter what age or physical condition. (and yes…you can start lifting weights at 90 years of age)

Strength training is a safe and effective method of reversing muscle loss in the elderly. This muscle loss is called sarcopenia. This condition actually begins around forty five years of age. At that time, the average person’s muscle mass begins to decline at the rate of about one percent per year.

Due to the natural deterioration of the body. Strength training is a important aspect of senior physical exercise routines. Strength training helps prevent the breakdown of healthy muscle, tissue and bones. Strength training also strengthens connective tissues(ligaments) around the muscles and joints. When you add in the benefits of doing some sort of exercise in general, it can add years of vitality to your life.

The stronger a person’s body is. The less chance of an injury occurring from an accident. A stronger body will be more resistant to virus related illnesses. You recover faster, feel better, sleep more soundly…the benefits are endless.

Recent findings show that positive impacts of a twelve week strength training program. In a group of volunteers with the joint disease osteoarthritis. Muscle strength increase by 14 percent and balanced improve fifty five percent after the 12 week program.

Another group of volunteers with chronic kidney disease using the same twelve week program also had some profound results. These volunteers on low protein diets, still increased their muscle fiber by thirty two percent and muscle strength by thirty percent after training. This was in contrast to those who did not train. This group about nine pounds or three percent of their body weight.

When it comes to strength training there are generally two types that are taught. These are body sculpting and body building. Body sculpting is the best form of trailing for seniors. This form seems to fill their needs. Body sculpting theory generally speaks to the ability of women to add about five pounds of muscle mass. Men will ad about ten pounds of muscle mass. this form of training is not about getting “bulked up”. It is more focused on increasing the muscles you use on a daily basis in your everyday life.

The best part is you don’t have to used heavy weights…and in some cases no weights at all. (I know of a 88 year old man who trains using two large cans of beans from the grocery store.)

Weight training should be done in very short sessions. Not only does excess work out time reduces the body building aspects of the work out. To start no more the two exercises or 15 minutes if your new to working out or are over the age of 75 when you start.

Work outs should be done in very short sessions for the best results. When weight training seeks to workout twice per week with two days rest among each session.

Mouth Sores? It May Be Angular Stomatitis

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Angular Stomatitis is one common problem that affects people numbering in the millions all over the world. There are reported cases of some individuals who have had suffered this condition for the most part of their lives before actually finding an effective solution and respite from its devastating physical and social effects. Angular Stomatitis can virtually happen to anyone, of any age and gender – but majority of those who are its regular victims are the children and the elderly.

The condition starts out innocently as small cuts or slits that is characterized by an inflammation and the presence of rashers that appears at the corners of the mouth. It is preceded by some tell tale signs of dryness, cracking and itching on the lips, that when left unattended will go on to become what is known as Angular Stomatitis, and is also referred to angular Cheilitis, Cheilosis and Perleche. Initially it will just start like a small cut at the corners of the mouth.

At its onset, only mild to residual feelings of pain may be felt, but after days, the exposed tissue underneath the skin will become infected with deadly pathogens that are usually harmless on the skins surface. Hereafter, the individual will begin to feel the severity and enormity of what had started earlier as just something trivial and treatable, that for the coming days – or maybe weeks to months, into becoming something much more complicated and painful to bear.

The small cracks will now develop further and turn nasty with the presence of blood and pus, and the surrounding area riddled with rashes that add more insult to the injury. Once at this stage, almost anything to do with movement of the mouth becomes a sheer exercise of frustration, suffering and embarrassment. Taking in food will be very difficult and talking or smiling to family and friends will become almost impossible to do – as well as facing their quizzical looks of concern.

Many reasons are attributed for contracting Angular Stomatitis and Medical studies have pointed one reason to a person’s immune system that is weak or compromised. The elderly are more at risk of getting this condition with their aging bodies unable to effectively combat infections, and with the children, mainly due to unsanitary oral habits such as continuous lip licking and bottle overfeeding. Angular stomatitis has been linked to another infection of the mouth – candidiasis.

Most doctors prescribe 1% hydrocortisone creams or gels to the affected area. This method of treatment is not an ideal one as proven by its recurrence and mutating into another form of viral strain that is harder to treat.
