Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

I smoked for 11 years and tried to quit dozens of times. I’ve read where using both types of quit-aids more than doubles your chances. Also, learn to breathe through your diaphragm and practice this for at least an hour a day. Good Luck!

How to Stop Smoking Forever With Subliminal Messaging

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

You may not be familiar with subliminal messaging, but it is a simple concept. It basically works as a mild form of hypnosis, and just like hypnosis it aims to overwrite negative habits and either neutralize them or replace them with positive ones. However the difference with subliminal messaging is that you will not enter a deep trance. The changes take place more gradually but your subconscious mind will decode the messages even though you will not consciously hear anything.

So, just as hypnosis can help you to overcome your addiction to smoking, so can subliminal messaging. It works just as hypnosis, or nicotine chewing gum, or patches do:

* It acts as an aid to support your goal of quitting smoking so that you will be much more likely to quit. * It helps to lessen your cravings, so that you will not physically crave a cigarette. * It will boost your willpower, so that you will not give in to temptation and will be able to quit forever. * Target the source of all of your positive associations to smoking within your mind, and eliminate them. * Focus you on the positives and the benefits of quitting smoking so that you will be more driven and motivated to quit than ever before.

However, just like hypnosis, it will not work if you don’t really want it to work. For example if you buy a CD for your partner and he / she listens to it half-heartedly then there is a very low chance of success. If on the other hand you do really want to quit, subliminal messages will align your body, conscious and unconscious mind to make you totally focused and much more likely to stop smoking forever.

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Losing weight can be one of the most difficult goals to achieve in life. Weight loss can be quite hard, and keeping the weight off even harder. The are many different ways of losing weight, but eating a healthy diet and exercising on a regular basis are the most important things.

Many fad diets out there don’t work because they are not nutritionally sound or realistic. Many people fail to lose and keep weight off because they don’t establish new, healthy habits. Here are some easy weight loss tips to help you.

One tip is to avoid eating junk foods. If you don’t cut out most processed and junk foods, it will be very difficult to lose weight. This is because these types of foods are high in fat and calories and contribute to weight gain not weight loss.

Another important tip is you should, ideally, eat smaller portions throughout the day rather than a few large ones. Eating about five to six small meals a day, or every four to five hours is usually best. When you eat more frequently, in smaller portions, your metabolism stays high and burns fat faster.

Be sure to learn how to lower your caloric intake while at the same time not depriving yourself. The only true way you can lose weight is to burn off more calories than you consume. In order to do this, cut your calories slowly, but only do this by small percentages every day.

To lose weight, you will need to exercise several times a week. Working out will not only help you to build muscle, but all keeps your metabolism running high and burning fat at a fast rate. Besides your formal exercise program, be as active as you can throughout your day and choose walking over driving, or taking the stairs instead of an elevator whenever you can.

One last tip is find a way to record and monitor your weight loss activities. Get a journal to record meals, minutes and exercised and similar things so that you can keep track of what you have accomplished. This can be very motivational and help you stay on track for meeting your weight loss goals.

Diet and exercise are really the big secrets to weight loss. Staying consistent is probably the most important thing you can do. Do your best to establish new healthy habits that will stay with you for a lifetime, rather than a short term fix and you stand a good chance of not only losing weight but keeping it off for good.

What You Should Know About Natural Sweeteners and Artificial Sweeteners

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

It’s easy to see that too much sugar is causing our world a fair amount of grief. With the wide variety of sugar substitutes many are choosing to reduce their sugar intake or eliminate it completely. The hard part is finding a sugar substitute that will work for you. There are natural sweeteners and synthetic sweeteners. Some cause side effects such as tooth decay, headaches or digestion problems. In this article you’ll find a few quick things to keep in mind while trying to find the right fit.

The first thing to consider is artificial versus all natural sweeteners. With the ability of man to engineer very complex things these days it is no wonder we have available several chemicals that work to sweeten drinks and foods but not provide calories or other side effects the chemical was engineered to avoid. There are also various other natural sweeteners that mother nature has invented for us that add wonderful flavor to the foods we eat and drink. My tendency is to always go with whatever is as close to mother nature as possible. Regardless of man made or natural, our bodies are going to react differently with different substances.

The most common artificial sweeteners being widely distributed under many different names are Sucralose and Aspartame. Engineered to trick your body of its sweetness upon entry and exit the body without being broken down like a carbohydrate or leaving behind those unwanted calories, artificial sweeteners have become very popular. However, as time passes, reports are mounting of the negative side effects of these impostors. These side effects include headaches, migraines, upset stomach and even seizures. In addition to having potentially dangerous side effects you might also consider that cooking with artificial sweeteners is less than desirable. Aspartame breaks down in heat and becomes useless and because of all the filler required, Sucralose will leave your food sweet to the taste but quite dry in texture. Be sure to consider the long term effects of going artificial. It might be cheap and it might be easy but since when has cheap and easy ever had lasting benefit.

Quickly catching up in popularity are the all natural sweeteners. Some of them you may have heard of are Erythritol, Xylitol, Mannitol, Sorbitol and Stevia. All of these are 100% natural and sweet to the taste. However, just because it is all natural doesn’t mean it won’t have side effects. Three of the above mentioned seem to stand out as better alternatives to sugar; Erythritol, Xylitol and Stevia. Xylitol and Stevia will cause digestion issues if you aren’t careful with the quantity you consume. Erythritol however is digested differently by the body and will not cause gastric pain. Another nice benefit of Erythritol is that it is the only one that doesn’t promote tooth decay and it is the only one on the list to be zero calorie.

Erythritol is found in many fruits and vegetables and is about 70% sweet as sugar. As mentioned earlier it has zero calories and digests in the small intestine leaving your body through your urine not causing gas pains like many other natural products. Erythritol is also a great choice for diabetics because it will not cause a rise in your blood sugar levels. You can find Erythritol online or in a store and use it alone as a sweetener with great benefit. There are also a few companies now that are finding super sweet natural ingredients and blending that with Erythritol to bring the sweetness up to that of sugar. Because if its physical properties it is also great for cooking and can in fact be measured cup for cup like sugar.

Finding out if Erythritol as a natural sweetener is right for you will require you to do more reading beyond this article and trying the products yourself. Determining if artificial sweeteners are really bad will also require much more reading and critical thought to decipher the truth from all that is out there. Hopefully the thought process used through this article will be of some aid in getting you started down the path to a solid alternative to sugar.
