I Quit Smoking! …kinda?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Okay, so I’ve been eating healthy and exercising everyday…and today, like right now, I just threw my pack of newport menthols away. I just wanna’ f’n get this over with. I tried quitting once, lasted about a month, but got back on it because of a friend who smokes. I started smoking when I was 15, was a casual smoker…about 1-2 cigs a day. Then when I hit 18, I started smoking a pack in 2 days and I’ve been smoking pack in 2 days since then (I’m 20 now).
But this sh*t is ending RIGHT f’n now. I’ve read loads of articles online but none of that really helps, I want personal advice and experience. I want to know, how big of difference will it be if i stop smoking? As in appereance, health, mood and such. I don’t have much of support since all my friends are smokers and do alot of heavy stuff besides that, and I’m trying to branch out of it. I live alone in an apartment so family support isn’t available. Will I gain ALOT of weight even if I eat healthy and exercise? Will there be any difference in my skin tone (It’s dull and has no shine) Will I go through depression? How did it turn out for you guys?
Sorry about the long *** post, any help is appreciated. I really want to go through this and be done with it. How did you ex-smokers keep your willpower up?
Thanks in advance

Develop Your Stop Smoking Plans!

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Developing Your Stop Smoking PlansYou are out to make a complete change in your life so you decide to pursue quitting smoking. While the option has crossed your mind before, you now have a sudden desire to actually quit, and to do it for good. You no longer want to be trapped to the cigarettes that have held you hostage for so long. This means it is time to start looking towards developing a sure fire plan that will allow you to quit successfully and for good. You no longer want to consider the option that you will fail; you have decided to go full steam ahead and now is the time for action. You are going to need to do several things, and that includes picking an actual quit date. Here is the catch though; this date does need to come. People every year decide that as a New Year’s resolution, they are going to aim to quit smoking, but January 1st comes and goes and they are still smoking. Rather than finding yourself in this position pick a day to quit and stick with it. On that day, all of your cigarettes need to be gone, and you need to be prepared mentally to kick the smoking habit for good. You should also look into setting up a rewards program for yourself; use the money that you are saving by not buying cigarettes to fund it if necessary. A year of smoking can easily cost more than $1,800 so you have a generous budget to work with if you are working towards permanent results. Just be sure to look for things that you really want to help encourage you. If you merely rely on the financial rewards, or just the physical and health rewards you are much more likely to fail, combine several types of rewards to keep yourself really motivated. As you are working to quit smoking you need to increase the amount of exercise that you are doing, you should also start to watch how you are eating. Many smokers find that as they quit smoking, they start gaining weight. This can often be a huge shock, but if you are exercising and eating right, you can minimize the weight gain to ensure that you are instead focusing on quitting smoking, rather than splitting your time between trying to quit smoking and trying to lose weight. Be prepared to pack on a small amount of weight but these small changes will ensure that you are not gaining large amounts.A final consideration that you should take into account is your overall health. If you are in poor physical condition, you should discuss your plan to quit smoking with your doctor. While a doctor is not going to discourage your from quitting, they may have some helpful advice and information that is specific to your health situation. This can also be great because your doctor will be able to monitor your health to ensure that you can make the most impact in the quickest amount of time. Simply trying to struggle to quit smoking on your own is not necessary. Using the advice from your doctor, as well as working with a well developed plan you will find that it is not as hard as you ever imagined. You are certainly in for a long and difficult road, but you will be able to find success at one end of the road, which will leave you in better health, and also help you to take pride in yourself for your accomplishment.

Ex Smokers, How To Quit Smoking Please Help!?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

I have been smoking for 13 years and i am only 24, i know this is bad but i never wanted to quit before. Recently i have been hating how much i smell of smoke, my clothes, my hair etc so i have been thinking this may be my time to quit! Also i am trying to stop feeling so sluggish and change the way i eat! I have zero energy and my skin is grey and dull and i know stopping smoking will help.
I do enjoy smoking though and i think that will be my downfall to not quiting, as soon as i wake up the first thing i do is have a cig!
I have tried before and managed 3 weeks but like i said i missed smoking so started again. I used the inhalator last time but didn’t use it as much as i should, but they are too expensive so need to try and do this cold turkey. I am from the UK so could ring the NHS support line. Any advice? Is it better to cut down first or stop altogether?
I have asked this question before but not many replies!

Do You Think It’s Ok To Stop Taking Anxiety Medication And To Stop Smoking Marijuana At The Same Time?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

I’m not sure if it’s ok? I’ve been slowing down my anxiety medication because I haven’t felt well enough to take it and at this point haven’t taken it for about 5 days. I also take medication for nauseaus which is caused by my anxiety…my worst symptom so far has been that my nausea has gotton worse and every sad story online makes me cry a little….oh and I’m a little light headed.
I’ve wanted to quit smoking for a while now, especially in the last 2 months, but because my symptoms have worsened….it became hard and now that I am unable to take my aniety medication at all. Do you think it’s safe to stop both at the same time or should I wait a few more weeks before I stopped smoking? I don’t want to mess up my head too much too soon.
What do you think? I will be seeing my doctor in a week from today…he’s on vacation this week.
Thanks

Replenix And Green Tea: A Powerful Combination

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Green tea has been praised, hailed, widely recognized, and practically worshipped for its many beneficial properties. All sorts of positive effects have been attributed to it. People say that green tea is great for losing weight, for boosting your metabolism, and for even having the power to prevent cancer, thanks to its ample amount of antioxidants. You could even go as far as calling it a miracle drink, too.

But apparently, green tea is not just excellent for your body and your health. It has also become quite a popular ingredient in beauty and skin care products. More and more products these days are boasting that they contain green tea: soaps, shampoo, lotion, face creams–you name it. Green tea, after all, is rich in antioxidants, which combats the effects of free radicals on the body as well as on the skin, helping to minimize any skin damage. It also heals and soothes skin, as well as treats any skin issues including sun damage and acne.

However, not everyone has perfected the art and science of using green tea extract, not the way skin care giant Replenix has. Replenix is a skin care line of Topix Pharmaceuticals and has built up for itself a reputation as a top beauty product line which makes use of the power of green tea in its offerings; its products contain 90% polyphenol isolates that have been extracted from green tea.

Replenix offers products that target every area of the face and addresses numerous skin problems: eye care, basic skin care, toning, clarifying, cleansing, anti-aging, and acne. One particularly impressive product is the Eye Lightening Serum, which helps beat puffiness, wrinkles, and dark circles around the eyes. The Replenix Cream CF, which gets an extra boost of caffeine, is another one that gets a lot of praise thanks to its ability to moisturize and still prevent skin from breaking out; satisfied customers are also happy with it because its blend is extremely light and non-greasy. The products are also formulated for every skin type imaginable.

Reviews of the Replenix line have mostly been very positive, with users raving about the products and attesting to the fact that they have not encountered such effective skin care products before. The Replenix CF Anti-Photoaging Complex SPF 45, for example, has been widely praised not only for its great effect on the skin, but also for blending wonderfully with makeup. People looking for green tea-infused products will definitely be more than satisfied with Replenix.

Various Ways to Clean Your Carpet

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

No house is complete without a carpet. Whatever theme or design a particular house has, a carpet is surely visible which accentuates the overall ambiance of the surroundings. Maintaining a carpet is not easy, as it requires the owner to thoroughly scrub and vacuum it in order to get rid of the dirt and stains it contains. If a carpet is not washed properly, the beauty and original appearance of it may fade over time. When this happens, carpets are usually removed and replaced with new ones, putting all the money youve invested on the first expensive one down the drain.

Over the years, people have tried different methods of effectively cleaning carpets. One of the traditional ways to clean them is through foam cleaning. A shampoo is used here as a detergent and it is released from a brush that scrubs the carpet one area at a time. When the entire carpet has been scrubbed, it is left to dry for about two hours. After the carpet dries, it is then vacuumed to get rid off the dirt. This kind of washing technique is perfect for big areas which have consistent maintenance programs like hallways in hotel rooms and so on.

Bonnet cleaning is also a way to clean carpets. Bonnet, instead of a brush is used to clean the carpet. Normally, you clean one section by hand at a time. This process requires a lot of time and instead of removing the dirt it simply moves it to other areas on the carpet. Sooner or later the dirt resurfaces, rendering the cleaning useless.

Dry methods are also used to clean carpets. These methods are convenient for people who do not have time to spend the entire day cleaning. A powder is placed on the area of the carpet that is filthy. The dirt would eventually vanish as these powdered products claim. In reality, the powder stays on the carpet, leaving an undesirable mark that, as usual, attracts more dirt in the long run.

The above cleaning methods for carpets can be improved simply by using a steam cleaner filled with cleaning solution and hot water. This will remove embedded stains and dirt cleaning the carpet weaves completely. Dirt is cleaned from the area each time the hot water sucked back into the tubes. Before using a steam cleaner you should first thoroughly vacuum the carpet. This confirms grit, allergens, stains, sand, and dirt are gone previous to finishing up with the steam cleaner and carpet.
