Four Stop Smoking Aids to Help You Quit

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

When you have made the decision to stop smoking, you are about to attempt kicking the habit of one of the strongest addictions on the planet. Nicotine addiction is considered to be on par with that associated with drugs such as heroin and cocaine. Using a stop smoking aid can be just the thing needed to help you stop smoking cigarettes and become smoke free while improving your health.
#1 Stop Smoking Aid – Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)
Nicotine replacement therapies (NRT’s) are a very popular method to stop smoking. They help you wean yourself off of nicotine through slowing reducing the amount of the drug that you ingest daily. They have an added benefit of not having the additives that cigarettes do while providing your body with the chemicals needed to help your smoking cessation efforts progress slowly. NRT’s are not cheap stop smoking aids, however, they generally run equal to or less than the cost of an equivalent amount of cigarettes whether you choose gum, mints, or the patch for your NRT of choice. You do need to heed the warnings included with the NRT that you choose since the combination of multiple NRT’s can be harmful to your health.
#2 Stop Smoking Aid – Stop Smoking Laser Treatment
The stop smoking laser treatment combines the knowledge of acupressure with modern technology. The laser treatment stimulates pre-known points on your body in order to stimulate endorphins through the use of a pulsating laser. The treatment helps reduce your desire to smoke while also stimulating its metabolism in order to reduce the amount of weight gain you will see when kicking the habit. When combined with other self-help methods, the stop smoking laser treatment has proven to be highly effective. The stop smoking laser treatment is still relatively new, so you may find yourself having to travel to another state (or another country if you live abroad) to seek out the treatment.
#3 Stop Smoking Aid – Stop Smoking by Using Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy has become a popular stop smoking aid in alternative medicine circles. It takes repeated treatments to help you quit, but avoids the use of other drugs and chemicals. The method makes use of acupuncture to help stimulate the amount of endorphin production in your body. This helps reduce the withdrawal effects of cutting off the nicotine supply to your body and reduces the overall stress level associated with quitting cigarettes.
#4 Stop Smoking Aid – Taking Stop Smoking Pills
Perhaps the most popular stop smoking aids, stop smoking pills have been around for a long time. They are intended to increase the supply of dopamine and epinephrine in your body so that you do not suffer as bad of withdrawal symptoms from the elimination of nicotine as you normally would. The stop smoking pill is designed to be absorbed rapidly by your body so that an immediate effect is achieved. Similar to other stop smoking aids, the stop smoking pill is most effective when combined with smoking cessation behavioral modification classes.

Not Dating? What You Can Enjoy Right Now

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

While doing your Saturday morning shopping you’re surrounded by people. Couples walking hand in hand, smiling and chatting. As you look at them you wonder how they met. Were they shopping, doing the laundry or browsing an internet dating site?

And right about the same time you can’t help but feel that you want to be part of a twosome as well. Rest assured, you’re not alone. Lots of singles feel exactly the same way. You wonder why you haven’t found someone to share your life with. You always thought you would; you went to school, have a good job, but you haven’t fallen in love.

After the falling in love part comes marriage and the baby carriage; or so you thought. Life seems to have other plans for you, but don’t give up! By keeping a positive attitude, it’s really just a matter of time before you meet someone to call your own.

While you’re on your quest for a partner, you still need to live your life to the fullest So take advantage of your single status and do the things that you might not be able to do if you were part of a couple.

1.Travel at a moment’s notice. Let’s say you have friend who has an extra ticket to a major event, but you have to travel out of town to get there. As a single person, you can go without feeling as though you have hurt someone’s feelings.

2. You can date as many people as you like. As a single man or woman you can date a few people at a time until you make the choice to settle down with one person.

3. You don’t have to share your living and sleeping space. Nor do you have to share the TV remote and no one hogs your blankets. You can please yourself with music and stay up as late as you want.

4. Accept party invitations or happy hour events at anytime without having to call to let your partner know where you are for the evening.

5. Though this will depend on your budget, you can cook or eat out as often as you’d like. Pleasing yourself also holds true for tidying up and cleaning, though I’m not suggesting you let your place become a dump.

Okay, I’ll be the first to admit that the above points are selfish. But that’s the point; get it out of your system before you settle down. When you do meet someone that’s right for you, chances are you’ll be just fine with the idea of changing your perspective.

Reflecting on these points can also help you decide whether you really do want to be attached to one person for the rest of your life. It can be a wonderful experience, but it’s not for everyone. So make the most of your single life while you’re looking for The One.

Rosacea: Treatments, Triggers, and Basic Facts

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Do you know the name of one of the most common skin problems widespread throughout the globe? If this question were posed to fifty different people, it’d be surprising if a dozen of them got it right. The answer is rosacea.

Despite the high numbers of people effected here – about forty million people – rosacea tends to slip off the radar, not really being known or understood beyond those who have it. For those who do, they know what it’s like: the face gets red, blushed, inflamed. Acne-like pimples and bumps appear. Blood vessels surface to the face.

While the disease effects both the young and old, black and white, and men and women, it definitely has a target audience. The most common person dealing with rosacea tends to be European white women between the ages of 30 and 50 years old. It is not understood why this is the case beyond some evidence showing a genetic linkage for this population. That being said, it is not understood what causes this disease.

There is not a cure for rosacea, only an ever growing set of treatments that target its symptoms. Some people who only have very mild rosacea focus only on covering up the red appearance of their face. Others who have bad inflammation must focus on relief, and this comes in form of antibiotics, OTC medicines, and natural herbal remedies, like applying fresh lavender to the skin to cool it down.

While antibiotics and even over the counter medicine can go a long way, it does not do the job for everyone. Those seeking other treatments might consider laser treatments for rosacea. The results are very promising, with many patients seeing worthy relief after a single treatment. Note though that it is common to have many treatments done.

As you can see, there are a variety of good treatments out there. Unfortunately though, it is usually a life long affair. Problems may go into remission but resurface and then serious treatments need to start again. After identifying what situations and experiences trigger rosacea for a patient, behavior modification and effective treatments can make rosacea something that, while it’s still there, doesn’t have to be the focus of a patients life!

Rosacea is a problematic skin disorder that many people suffer from. For more information on OTC rosacea treatment, see the Rosacea Treatment Guide.
