Quit Smoking Had Pneumonia, Then Asthma, Now Throat Problem Anyone Else Have These Problems After Quitting?

my son & hubby would get flu and a cold every year – it would pass me by then when i quit smoking i become ill! came down with flu february, stopped smoking due to all the coughing from flu virus, then got pneumonia, chest xray shows asthma, had 4 lots of anti-b’s for pneumonia, i still cough now especially in the mornings, plus i have what feels like mucous at the back of my nose/throat and have excess saliva . my sense of smell is so sensitive now and my taste has changed i am eating things i wouldnt have dreamed of before – what has your experience been? my doctor said it would take between 13-16 weeks for my lungs to heal. any thoughts on this matter? i thought giving up smoking would have been good for me!!!!

yes I was exactly the same it is because all the poisons in the tobacco were disguising all the infections. Your body is just expelling all the rubbish from years of smoking. It took me about a year befor I was able able to fight off the things you are experiencing but I smoked for 35 years. Stick with it it is worth it

I think it is your lungs trying to clean themselves, I have heard this before. Good luck, keep up the good work and as your doctor says I am sure in 3 months time all will be ok.

Hang in there, there are plenty of nicotine smoking withdrawal symptoms, such as cold, flu and allergy. Trust your doctor, it takes that 13-16 weeks to heal, I know someone who quit smoking and took 4-5 months to clean them up. Just hang in here STRONG, I am quitting for one month and still suffering some withdrawal symptoms. You will be feeling better as time goes.
    Good Luck!
