I am 24, my b/f is 29. He has been smoking since he was 13, however he says he is going to quit, but that he isn’t ready. Two questions, how can I help him become motivated to without being pushy, and also, how long should I wait for him to quit. In other words, you can only say “I’m going to quit” for how long before it doesn’t become true anymore? What are some signs I should be looking for out of him in other words?

The one issue that points out the cause for bleeding gum is inadequate dental hygiene. Even when you brush, floss and rinse you mouth with mouthwash, the cause for bleeding gums may still be there. The main cause is bacteria that develop into tartar and plaque once they start to buildup, causing bleeding and receding gums.

The bacterial film which cultivates on the teeth is plaque. As it develops, gingivitis can result. This plaque that causes gingivitis cause irritated gums, resulting to bright red and swollen gums, sensitive and bleeding gums. Tooth loss can eventually result due to the long-term infection. The symptoms of gum disease are not easily detected, but still cause bleeding gums. Even with little to no discomfort, people may already suffer from gum disease without them knowing it.

Caution: 4 Things You Shouldn’t Be Doing When Toning Arms

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

The reduction of fat arms has become quite the mystery. The truth is that countless women are lost in a sea of information confusion.

You see, all the marketing hype has created a sandstorm of false information. Even worse, there are times when the research isn’t even clear.

And if the experts are having a hard time interpreting the research, how are you supposed to? You can’t, but I am here to the rescue.

So without further ado, here are 4 things you shouldn’t be doing to reduce fat arms:

1. Thinking supplementation trumps whole food. Ignore the labels with pictures of women who lost 40lbs of fat overnight. The truth is that whole foods interact with each other in ways that supplements could never mimic. Nature cannot be reproduced in a pill.

2. Fiber supplementation. Unfortunately, this ever popular supplement has been shown to increase colon cancer rates. The good news is that you probably eat so many vegetables that fiber supplementation is a moot point.

3. Equating thinness with health. Being thin is no guarantee of having toned arms. And being thin is no guarantee of being healthy. I’ve seen thin women with flabby arms and I’ve seen thin women undergo triple bypass surgeries because their diets are so poor.

4. Thinking carbohydrates are the only food that can alter insulin. Excessive animal saturated fat intake and excessive protein intakes can also alter levels of insulin in your body. So don’t think that all you have to do is stay away from the white bread and pasta!

Warning: now you know 4 things to avoid during your quest to get toned arms. Knowing what NOT to do is just as important as knowing what to do. I know there is a lot of information out there. The key is to look past all the marketing hype and stick to the facts. And don’t forget to take action! Without action, information is useless.

Battling the UTI — Naturally

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Painful burning. Strong Odors. Abdominal Pain. When a urinary tract infection (UTI) strikes, it can move rapidly and cause a great deal of discomfort. Each year, millions of women (and some men) are afflicted with this frustrating infection. But, the good news is that these infections are preventable ” and easily treatable.

Increasing your hygiene can decrease the amount of bacteria and germs that are on your body.
Drinking cranberry juice can help the body get rid of toxins and bacteria. It helps fight the causes of UTI because it is well known to help flush your body of potential triggeers and causes of UTI. If you smoke, you are only increasing your cause of UTI. If you quit smoking, you decrease your chance of irritating your bladder and could cause bladder cancer.

The symptoms of a UTI include cloudy urine, a strong odor, low fever and a painful, constant need to urinate. Many women also experience fatigue, nausea, and a general ill feeling. If the infection is mild, it may often go away on its own without an antibiotic. However, a prescription medication can be necessary to fully remove all the bacteria so that the UTI does not return.

The most common solution to a urinary tract infection is to take doctor prescribed antibiotics, but there are some natural alternatives for those who do not wish to go that route. One common way to treat a bladder infection naturally is cranberry juice. Cranberry juice is high in acidity, which can help restore the natural pH balance found in the bladder and help fight off those nasty germs that caused the problem in the first place. You need to be careful though when using cranberry juice for a bladder infection because the high acidity of the juice can in some cases cause more irritation and inflammation.

Drinking cranberry juice is beneficial to having a clean urinary tract. Think of the urinary tract the same way that you would think of a sink. If it gets clogged with bacteria too much then it will become irritated and will not function properly.
