Keep your tongue off the roof of your mouth so you can relax and relax your eyelids. If you do this, you won’t have tension in your face or body. Keep your eyes closed until I tell you to open them. Simply participating by following my instructions, will make you a great subject and you will be hypnotized even if you “don’t feel anything” because you won’t, other than feel relaxed. Afterwards, you will FEEL better, healthier, happier and stronger.

You are always in control. Always. Your senses become keener. You become more aware, not less. You hear me, and if you feel the need to know what I say, you’ll keep your level of physical consciousness up, tuned in on me so you can be aware of what is being said. Your mind may wonder. It can and if it does, just bring your attention back to my voice thinking about what I am saying. Think about cleaning up your system as we do a cleansing on your body of toxins. This is powerful. Try to focus on my voice and think about what I am saying and as long as you can do that, you ARE participating and WILL be hypnotized.

 This is like a mind exercise. You do not just listen to me as if I’m telling you a story but think about it, using your imagination, being creative, actually participating with the mind at work and feel it with emotion to make it most powerful.

Hypnosis To Stop Smoking? Does It Work?

I really want to quit smoking!!! At least I want to want to quit smoking…(any smokers know what I mean by that so don’t judge if you have never experienced this addiction.) So I have tried gum, the patch, cutting back, and cold turkey. I have tried working out more than usual, eating candy, and even sucking on flipping carrot sticks whenever I normally have a cig during my daily routine. I don’t even drink alcohol anymore or eat high fatty foods which is a major trigger for a smoke. I even tried an anti-depressant that is suppose to help. I have failed miserably each time. I end up smoking more it seems.
So I know the more you try the more successful you’ll be. That relapsing is a part of recovery…
Anyways to get to my question… Has anyone out there had first or second hand experience with hypnosis helping a person to quit smoking? I’ve heard from people it works… But how effective is it really? Is it a drastic change in your behavior, or does it just kinda get you jump started? And how much is it usually, (how much per session, how many sessions) ? Is it worth the money?

Cigarettes Helps you Cope?

I’ve helped a lot of people quit smoking. While doing this, I’ve been told a lot of reasons why it is good to smoke.

I’ve been told smoking sharpens your mind, relaxes you, calms you, keeps you from yelling at the kids (or spouse), tastes good with coffee, tastes better after a meal. In short, makes you feel “better”. (I always ask “better than what”?)

I know you don’t really believe these reasons, or why would you be trying to stop smoking. Still, a part of you DOES believe these reasons.

The obvious and overlooked part is you must have a strong reason to continue smoking or you would have already stopped. By the way, there is no law that says your reason to keep smoking has to make any logical sense. It rarely does.

You’ve probably already proven your reasons untrue. Smoking might taste better with coffee because the coffee taste on your tongue covers the bad taste of smoking???

And most of the time you’re AWARE it doesn’t make sense. That doesn’t change anything though, does it? Just one more log to toss on the fire of your motivation to quit. A fire that doesn’t have much chance against the ocean of your craving to smoke.

It’s basically about two things. The motivation that smoking will make you feel better and the feeling that you’re trying to feel better than. That is all.

If you’re too hot, you look for ways to cool off. If you’re leg hurts you look for pain relief. If you feel bad (tired, stressed, overwhelmed, angry, lonely, whatever…) you look to feel good. If you have held the belief that smoking makes you feel good, that’s where your mind takes you.

This is an only slightly simplified explanation of a craving. Most smokers have more than one type of craving like, the ‘first thing in the morning’ craving feels different than the ‘after lunch’ craving. But the same model applies.

So how to help this situation? I can spend a few articles explaining it (and I have, look for them) But, it comes down to changing the feelings, motivations and beliefs involved.

First, the bad feeling needs to be helped. If it’s about stress, get it managed, if it’s a difficult situation, do what you can to take care of it or get some help. If it’s a bad feeling you get that is beyond what the situation deserves, behavior modification might be what you need.

Second, the belief that smoking makes you feel good (it is often the mistaken, and understandable, belief that smoking equals being an adult, in control, strong, capable, etc…) The fact is, smoking is some plant leaf and chemicals wrapped in paper. The good feeling you’re looking for, and sometimes experience, is created by YOU. YOU make yourself feel better when you smoke. You can make yourself feel just as good when drinking a glass of water. If, your mind believes it.

And that’s the trick. Quit smoking is mainly about modifying behavior. That’s why the success rate of medication and nicotine replacement alone is so poor. The only current exception is Chantix and even Pfizer, the makers of Chantix, recommend behavior modification along with the medication.
